Our Mission

The Grenada Monarchist League’s mission is simple: to advocate for and ensure the preservation of the Grenadian monarchy as our nation’s form of government, with the King of Grenada as head of state.

  • The League opposes any and all moves towards constitutional changes to establish a republic in Grenada.
  • We support fully and wholly the position of the Governor-General as a nonpartisan, neutral appointed representative of the King, and oppose any measure to make the Governor-Generalship a politically elected office.
  • We oppose any changes to the Oath of Allegiance for politicians and police personnel, or the Oath of Citizenship, which removes references to His Majesty the King.
  • We oppose any attempts to end the practice of Grenadians receiving royal honours, awards and knighthoods from the King, or changes to Grenada’s national honours system to end the King’s position as Sovereign of the national orders.
  • In order to signify and express the independent character of the Grenadian monarchy, we advocate for the Banner-of-Arms of the Grenada coat of arms to be adopted as a Grenadian Royal Standard to represent the King. We additionally believe that His Royal Highness the Prince William, as heir to the Grenadian throne, should receive a unique Grenadian title; Prince of Carriacou.
  • We firmly believe in the full restoration and rehabilitation of Government House, the official residence of the King and Governor-General in Grenada. The shameful neglect successive governments have shown to this historic building since Hurricane Ivan in 2004 is a national disgrace.

It is our mission and duty to counteract republican myths and falsehoods spread about the monarchy, and to make clear why the crown is an important part of our constitution and should be retained. The Grenada Monarchist League is committed to ensure that the constitutional order of independence, which has been vital to the success and stability of our tri-island state, is maintained.
